Sat 20th Feb 9:30am                IN SEARCH OF MIDNIGHT DISCO


A walk along the Roch Valley in search of one of Manchester rarest fungi, Midnight Disco (Pachyella violaceonigra). We start the walk going through Grislehurst Woods and follow the river through some beautiful woodlands, towards the end we hope to come across the interestingly named Midnight Disco. Other species we may see include Scarlet Elfcup, Velvet Shank and other bracket type fungi.

Borsdane Wood is situated in Wigan and is a beautiful wooded valley. Here we hope to find many bracket type fungi and maybe something a little unusual.

Sat 10th April 09:30am            DOVESTONES in search of Bog Beacon


Dovestones is one of the county’s premier sites for fungi and is the only known site in the county for Bog Beacon, a charismatic fungi that lives in shallow water and boggy places. Dovestones also has a large area of coniferous trees and here you can see species that generally are hard to find in Greater Manchester. Afterwards we will have a quick look for some Morels at a site nearby.
