By becoming a member of the Manchester Mushrooms Fungal Group you get added benefits such as an annual review of all the mushroom species seen during the year, access to historical records and a regular newsletter with I.D tips, reviews of sites and much more. Members are advised to join the Association of British Fungus Groups (www.abfg.com) who can also supply reagents, aid in identification at microscope level and also produce ‘The Forayer’ quarterly magazine.
One of the main aims of the group is to record as many of the species of fungi that occur in Greater Manchester as possible to enable us to see which species are important in our area and which may need protection. Manchester Mushrooms has a database which includes up to date and historical records of species that occur in the area. Members will have access to this database.
